Nathan Jensen is interested in the dynamics between household poverty, opportunity, and behavior in underdeveloped countries. His current research focuses on risk reducing strategies and coping mechanisms used by pastoralists to adapt to climate shocks in the Horn of Africa.

Nathan Jensen is a second year PhD student in the Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management, and a participant in the Food Systems and Poverty Reduction IGERT program at Cornell University. He received an MS in Agricultural and Applied Economics at the University of Missouri, Columbia. His master's thesis explored resilience in social-ecological system of agro-pastoralists in the Bolivian Altiplano.

Before graduate school, Nathan spent two years as a Peace Corps volunteer in Mali, West Africa, where he met his wife, Jennifer. In his free time, Nathan spends his efforts trying to fend off 150 years of entropy that have accumulated in old farmhouse outside of Ithaca.
